Liz Adcock-White
Social Worker
Kia ora, I'm Liz
For as long as I can remember I have been interested in people and their life stages. My upbringing in the UK, Europe and Kuwait introduced me to difference, disability and dying; I carry an awareness that dying is part of living, that feelings of fear, mystery and disempowerment can be reduced.
The Fifth Season (thefifthseason.co.nz) is a support service for people facing grief, loss and matters related to death, dying and the palliative experience: my work is to support anyone at any stage of this difficult and unique journey – yourself, family, whānau, friends, colleagues, teachers, staff.
Grief Support:
- Individual and / or family sessions
- Recognise, understand and work with your grief
- Learn to respond with resilience
- Develop a personal coping tool kit
End-of-Life Support:
- Helping you talk about dying, facilitating whānau conversations
- Help you clarify your values and priorities for living
- Paperwork: The Advanced Care Plan / Powers of Attorney
- Holding you gently: vigil and supporting visitors
- Care with costs: cremation, funeral, wake, burial options
- Legacy and life memories: write, create, record, make and store
My roles:
- I am a palliative Social Worker (reg.12133)
- I am an End-of-Life Doula (thepress.co.nz/nz-news/360521449/secret-life-death-doulas)
- I host Death Café North Canterbury
