New Zealand Telepsych Network

The combination of growing need and limited available resources, coupled with New Zealand's geography and population distribution, has contributed to inequities in accessing mental health services. We created the New Zealand Telehealth Network (NZTN) to help address that inequity and to make sure as many Kiwis as possible have access to the high-quality mental health services available through the private sector.

What is NZTN?

NZTN is a New Zealand-based, nationwide, online mental health service that helps clients connect with mental health providers, using our state-of-the-art telepsych platform. This platform allows you the flexibility to engage with a mental health provider in a manner that suits your needs.

Accessing Our Services

Restrictions

Clients must be 16 years or older to access services with NZTN.

Process

You can access mental health services right now by completing the following steps:

  1. Book an appointment via the calendar on a provider's profile page or directly through a service page.
  2. Payment is made through our automated system. Costs are based on the type of service, the profession, and experience of the provider you see.
  3. During the checkout step, you will be prompted to set up an account with NZTN.
  4. All future appointments will be scheduled by you, via the provider's calendar. Scheduling an appointment is your commitment to attend and your account will be debited at the completion of each scheduled session. If you do not attend a scheduled appointment, are more than 10 minutes late, or cancel within 24 hours, a no-show fee will be charged.   
  5. You can discontinue your participation with NZTN at any time and for any reason. When you are ready to discontinue services, notify our support team and you will be refunded any remaining payments in your account.
  6. Your Client Portal account will become inactive in the NZTN system after you discontinue receiving services, but can be reactivated if you decide to reengage with our services in the future.

Below are some frequently asked questions about accessing mental health services with NZTN

Do I need an account?

Yes, to access services from NZTN, you will need to create an account which creates a Client Portal on the NZTN site. All orders, documents and bookings will show on your Client Portal.

What kind of mental health services are available on NZTN?

We offer the following services; however, they may not always be available:

  • Mental Health Therapy by various professions
  • Adult ADHD Assessments
  • Adult ASD Assessments
  • Psychological Assessments for clinical purposes
  • Psychiatric Assessments for clinical purposes 
  • Life Coaching
  • ADHD/Executive Skill Coaching
  • Group Therapy
  • Psychoeducational Courses
  • Pre-recorded Guided Therapy Courses
How do I book an appointment with a particular provider?

You can search the provider profiles to find someone who you think matches your needs. You can then book an appointment through the calendar on their profile page.

If you do not feel the provider is a good fit after the initial session, you can contact our support team and we will help you find another provider.

How are the services paid for?

NZTN is a private pay system and we do not currently accept payments from third parties. We can provide receipts for reimbursement purposes if necessary. 

Services are paid for using bankcard payments. Costs vary depending on the service and the profession and experience of the mental health provider.

Are in-person services available?

No. In-person services are not available through NZTN - all our services are provided exclusively online through our video platform. 

Some of our providers may offer in-person services in the community where they live through other entities.  

Is my information kept private?

Yes! We value your privacy and use the latest methods to protect your information that is stored on our network. Access to your personal information is restricted to only those who need to see it in order for us to deliver the services you require. Your account, and those of the providers, are password protected. We also use two factor authorization for all logins to any account on NZTN. For more information, please see our privacy policy.
